Poetry Against Apocalypse (w/Darius Simpson)
Art, like a hammer, can be used in any number of ways. Poetry is simply another tool we might utilize for myriad purposes.
Through this workshop we will be exploring various systems of oppression to engage in the practice of aligning ourselves to use poetry, writing, in more effective ways to get at impacting our material reality. What can and can’t a poem do? What is the role or responsibility of poets in society? Who has access to deciding what poetry is and is not? These are a few questions we’ll explore during this generative writing workshop.
Participants will leave both with a packet of resources and a packet of their own poems written over the course of the workshop.
